Dylan Crossman
I grew up in East Montpelier, Vermont and have been skiing ever since I could walk. I got into Freeskiing when I strapped skis on for the first time. Freeskiing is soul skiing, following where your heart wants to be and where your skis take you. I ski all over the world. Mostly in the western U.S. these days: Alta, the Wasatch Mountains & the Rockies. I still love to come home and ski the Green Mountains at Mad River Glen.
Over the years I have gotten lots of awards for my skiing. I started at Mad River Glen with the winning of the Triple Crown events for a few years. Then I moved to Alta, UT and started competing in the Telemark Freeski events. In my first event I got 2nd place at Jackson Hole then a 1st place at Crested Butte. I held 1st place in every Telemark Freeski comp till his last one at Alyeska, AK where I got 2nd. At that time I had started to compete in the FWT (Freeskiing World Tour).
I won the Snowbird comp, the I’ll Eagle belt buckle in Canada and the Sickbird Buckle in Alaska. I won the Kirkwood event the year before we lost Ryan. The Crossman Couloir is also a very proud accomplishment for me; I have a Couloir in Austria that I was the first ever to ski and its now named after me.
I first met Ryan at Mad River Glen through our good friend Lars. We all had stuff in common and were friends right away. Ryan was positive all the time even over the roughest of roads. Ryan just would laugh it off. Good or bad and would always be a light at the end of the tunnel.
I love and miss him. He’s with me whenever I need him.
