Holden was a recent 2019 recipient of his Adventure Scholarship. He is a freeride skier, competitor, and outdoor enthusiast. He pretty much grew up on the mountain as his father being a ski patroller. He’s a local to Crest Butte, Colorado and has been spending most of his week on the mountain since the age of 13. He used his award to travel with his team to Kappl, Austria to compete in the Freeride Jr. Championships. After a few months, here is the recap he gave us of his season so far.
“I was one of the Flyin Ryan scholarship recipients this year and with winter underway I just wanted to send you guys a quick update of what’s been going on. I’ve been training hard with the Crested Butte Mountain Sports Team for the upcoming Freeride Junior World Championships in Kappl Austria. I am currently now in the airport where I am waiting for my flight to Munich Germany. I first will be traveling to Kitzbuhel to watch the world-famous Hahnenkamm downhill ski race. I then will travel to Kappl were I will be competing on the world stage representing America in the Freeride Junior World Championships. I want to say thank you so much again for the scholarship which has in part made this dream trip possible. I really couldn’t do it without you guys. I hope to ski with the spirit of Ryan and make the Hawks family proud. I will attach some content bellow of some fun skiing I had recently at Crested Butte while training. Thanks once again!”
