Meagan’s Bio
Hello – my name is Meagan O’Neill. I am a 21 year old senior at University of Wisconsin Stevens Point studying Soil Science and Land Management. I grew up in Madison, Wisconsin and was super lucky to have parents that introduced me to hiking, camping, and backpacking from a young age. At college, I made awesome friends who introduced me to rock climbing, downhill and cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. I am passionate about learning more about soil health and exploring Alaska’s natural beauty. The money from the scholarship will go towards the flight to Alaska to spend the summer WWOOFING on an organic, no-till peony farm and exploring Alaska’s beautiful natural features. Additionally, the soil in Alaska can have unique carbon-sequestering abilities -this is also an opportunity to explore if I would like to work up there for my future career as well.
