Flyin Ryan competed for another year at the Vermont Agency Charity Golf Tournament on August 18th, 2025 at the Burlington Country Club.
The Flyin Ryan Golf Team, Brad Currier, Jeff Amato, Tyler Demasie and Tim Kelly shot 10 under par to qualify as the third place team for the shootout. for $82,000 in prize money. 10 players from a field of 32 4-man teams were eligible to participate in the shoot out for prize money. The first place team had 4 shots, second place team 3 shots, third place team 2 shots and one team randomly selected from the field had one shot. The shot was executed on the 18th hole from 135 yards out from the pin. The object was to be closest to the pin. Of the ten shots taken, four were on the green. The order of shooting was reverse order. Our team, having placed third, shot second and third. Tyler’s shot was 9 feet from the pin. Before a large crowd we (Jackie, Peter and Alicia) held our breath and watched and watched seven additional golfers take their shots.
When the dust settled and the results announced, our shot held up and we captured the first prize of $55,000 dollars. For each of the last 3 years we have come in third to win $7,000.
The $55,000 award is by far the largest singular financial event in the 15-year history of the Flyin Ryan Foundation. The proceeds will be largely used to support our Adventure Scholarship program. The purpose of the Adventure Scholarship program is to recognize adventurers who are passionate about some pursuit and don’t have the means to execute their dreams. We don’t divine adventure and we do not confine our awards to gifted athletes who are customarily used to winning. We are focused on applicants who compellingly share with us their passion for some pursuit, have financial need, and also submit their core values. To date we have made over 200 awards and the pace is accelerating. This year we have made 20 awards with 5 months to go.
Onward and upward,
Peter
