Olivia Shivley
Jeffersonville, VT
“Hola! I am Olivia Shively. Snowboarding is my passion and it’s what gives me my sense of balance in all other things and provides me with plenty of adventure. I am 16 years old and a junior at Lamoille Union High School. My favorite things about snowboarding are competing and freeriding in the backcountry. I am an alpine snowboarder, racing in Slalom, Giant Slalom, Banked Slalom, and Boardercross. Riding boardercross is my favorite event, because it is always unpredictable. After competitions, I always like to go out into the back bowls and relax. The backcountry is my favorite place to be. I enjoy weaving through trees, dropping cliffs, and making huge carve turns in deep powder. In the off season, I train by playing lacrosse, running cross country, biking, and swimming.”
Olivia will also be spending her time volunteering and mentoring younger kids at her home mountain, Smugglers Notch. “I look forward to giving back to a club that has provided me with so much opportunity.” The Flyin Ryan Scholarship will allow for Olivia to pursue his passions and compete at multiple snowboard competitions this winter.
