The Flyin Ryan Hawks Foundation is proud to have been the summit sponsor for the 2023 Vermont Gran Fondo on June 24. The annual event attracted over 400 intrepid bicyclists who navigated the 107 mile course that includes the 4 gaps over the Green Mountains. Most notable is Lincoln Gap which, at 24% grade, has a reputation for being the steepest paved road in America.

The weather was forecast to be rainy and it was. Our team did a truncated 35-mile loop that included both the Appalachian Gap and the Lincoln Gap. This year’s riders included Frank Gibney, Dianne Muhr and Peter Hawks. Dianne and Frank summited the Ap Gap and returned to the car to beat the rain. Peter carried on and got caught in several showers and a cloudburst. The rain did not dampen his enthusiasm, but he was grateful for the warm, dry clothes which awaited him at the end of the loop.

The event helped raise money to support the work of the Flyin Ryan Hawks Foundation.
