While rummaging through some old papers, our Director Peter Hawks discovered an essay written by Ryan Hawks for an Advanced Composition class while he was a Junior at South Burlington High School in 2003. On the surface it is an essay about the experience of an adrenaline rush felt while skiing, but it reveals how Ryan perceived and managed risk in an inherently dangerous sport.
